Tenderness is Lighter Than Air

Opening Reception: December 1, 6-8 P.M.

LeMieux Galleries is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by painter Kris Wenschuh and photographer Leslie Elliottsmith.  Our shows will open with a reception with the artists on Saturday, December 1st from 6-8 p.m. LeMieux Galleries’ is open Monday-Saturday from 10-5:30. The shows will remain on view through January 26, 2019.

Kris Wenschuh’s series of paintings, “Tenderness is Lighter Than Air” is inspired by a period of 8 months that artist took to walk the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. It is an expression of the intense lightness that comes with tenderness, unencumbered by the stresses of “civilized” life, feeling connected to your surroundings and the universe.

Leslie Elliottsmith’s photographic assemblages speak to the frustration and resilience required to survive these American times of social warfare and to spring back from the ceaseless influx of information and misinformation.  Each piece delves into a view of personal space, environmental stewardship, and social expectations.
