Press Release

SOREN CHRISTENSEN TO PRESENT NEW WORK BY CASTERLINE & TERRELL The gallery return of a long-exhibited artist, and the debut of a new addition to the roster.

NEW ORLEANS, La—Soren Christensen is pleased to present Playdate the 5th solo gallery presentation of artist and educator Rose Thome Casterline, and Familiar Places the debut of new gallery artist Charlotte Terrell. Casterline’s show will feature new and retrospective work by the artist, who has shown at the gallery since 2002, and Terrell’s a new body of ethereal landscapes on panel.

Rose Thome Casterline has been exhibiting her drawings, prints and paintings over the past twenty years. Her work has been featured in several publications including New American Paintings (Vols. 34 and 52), House Beautiful and Coastal Living. Multiple private and public art collections house her drawings and paintings, with nearly 50 works commissioned or purchased by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). One of these projects included the Sea Island Series, a group of paintings commissioned by SCAD and exhibited at the G-8 Summit in 2004. She teaches life drawing and painting at Rollins College and Valencia College in Winter Park, FL since 2000.

The rear gallery will feature the solo gallery debut of new roster addition Charlotte Terrell. After receiving her degree in Landscape architecture from the University of Georgia in 1980, Charlotte Terrell began work as a landscape architect for New York City Parks, involving the restoration of 19th century landscapes of Central Park and other historic landscapes. She apprenticed with master finisher, Ina Marks, of the Isabel O’Neil School of Antique and Art Restoration, to learn the craft of mid 19th century decorative painting. Terrell's century old decorative painting techniques have naturally translated into fine art. Her love and expertise in landscape design inform her subject matter. She was born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

Both shows will run from June 1st -30th, with the opening reception on Saturday, June 2nd in participation with the first Saturday openings in the New Orleans Arts District.
