Mary Monk returns to LeMieux Galleries in her forth solo exhibition with Between Here and Somewhere. Monk is known for her country/urban landscape pastels that magnify mood and lighting. In Between Here and Somewhere, Mary Monk is inspired by the feeling of home as a complex feeling that follows you. “Home” can be brought with you, the feeling of returning home and contrasting “home” to the places you’ve been.

Mary Monk grew up in New Orleans, and is based in Abita Springs, Louisiana. A member of the Degas Pastel Society, Monk is a self taught pastelist, but took classical drawing lessons while growing up. She is incredibly inspired by her move to the country. Her work belongs to permanent collections belonging to St. Tammany Parish and the state of Louisiana. Monk was recently a featured artist at Door County Plein Air Festival at Peninsula School of Art.
