LeMieux Galleries is pleased to announce the opening of exhibitions for two artists this Fall: Debra Howell and Mary Lee Eggart. Both shows will run from November 23rd -December 28th with an opening reception for the artists on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. LeMieux Galleries is located at 332 Julia St and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
In Debra Howell’s follow up to 2016’s Adaptations, Witness explores a post human world where the trees bear witness to the changing environment and are the earth’s salvation. The trees have become the personification of the earth goddesses of mythology, reclaiming and healing the earth. Her imagery is created through constructed photography.
In Novena Mary Lee Eggart’s latest series of nine colored pencil drawings, each piece is framed by a nine-square grid to indicate the nine days of prayer in the Novena of Catholicism. Each drawing serves as a petition to the saints for intervention in issues that concern the artist from climate change to asylum seekers each populated with birds and plants symbolically appropriate to the prayer.
