Urban Sketchers (USk) New Orleans is hosting an exhibition to celebrate the work of the many artists participating in our monthly meetups and community. Over the last couple of years, artists and architects have met monthly in different parts of New Orleans to capture this great city by pencil, pen and paint. The exhibit will feature over twenty local artists and architects, featuring sketches and paintings of New Orleans, from Crescent Park and the French Quarter, to Lake Vista and the Audubon Zoo. You can find some of our work on our facebook group here.
Urban Sketchers New Orleans is the local chapter of urbansketchers.org, an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to fostering a global community of artists who practice on-location drawing.
With a community of over 225 chapters in 55 countries on 6 continents, we are proud to represent New Orleans' architectural and cultural heritage through on-location drawing, sketching and painting.
This event is being hosted by the Louisiana Architecture Foundation and New Orleans Architecture Foundation in conjunction with Hancock Whitney White Linen Night on August 4th at the Center for Architecture and Design. The exhibit is sponsored by Markdesign, as well as Mos Art Supply, Rebecca and Dan Lester, and Wisznia Architecture + Development.
