The Ogden Museum of Southern Art is pleased to present the exhibition, Courtney Egan: Virtual Idylls, featuring projection-based installations that weave botanical art with sculpture and technology.

Courtney Egan (b. 1966, New Orleans) is strongly inspired by the profusion of native and non-native flora in New Orleans, where she has lived and worked in since 1991. Her work is known to digitally manipulate the natural world, questioning how our perception of nature is augmented by technology.

Egan has had solo shows at Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans, Bradbury Museum of Art, Louisiana Art and Science Museum, Colorado State University Art Museum and University of Louisiana’s Hilliard Museum. Group and two-person shows include Digital Nature at the Los Angeles Arboretum; Between Nature and Technology at the Sonoma Museum of Art; Digital Graffiti in Alys Beach, Florida; Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis, Missouri; Ballroom Marfa in Marfa, Texas and The Soap Factory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was an artist-in-residence at the Sante Fe Art Institute and at Louisiana Artworks in New Orleans. She is a founding member of the New Orleans-based visual arts collective, Antenna Gallery. She holds an M.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art.

Reviews of her artwork have been published by Sculpture Magazine, Oxford American, Pelican Bomb, Artforum and the Gambit.

Her work is held in the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation collection, University Medical Center in New Orleans and in private collections.
