Arts District New Orleans will hold its monthly First Saturday Art Walk on Saturday, October 4th from 5-9pm in conjunction with the 45th annual Art For Arts' Sake, a celebration of the arts in downtown. This annual rite of fall was created by the CAC in 1980, has been presented with ADNO since the early 90s, and has become one of the hottest events of the year for art lovers in and around New Orleans. Guests are invited to come Downtown for a full day of artful fun and evening openings in the 21 member galleries and museums of the Arts District. Reinvigorating this event post-pandemic, the Arts District New Orleans has since added a philanthropic component, illustrating the power of art to go beyond art's sake.

This year, a number of galleries will be setting up collection sites for Grace at the Greenlight, a New Orleans-based non-profit whose mission is to offer unhoused members of our community choices while also providing them with items to meet their basic needs. The items we'll be collecting are men's and women's clothing, hygiene items (deodorant,  disposable razors, travel-size toothpaste, NEW men’s underwear, NEW women’s underwear), and food items (individually packaged peanut butter crackers, Slim Jims, fruit cups, chicken salad kits, Subway gift cards, bulk quick cook oatmeal and grits). Below, you'll find a list of which galleries will be set up as donation-collection sites.
