Aron Belka | Last Chance Tourism

In these new paintings, Belka creates a “last chance,” to see New Orleans. Focusing on locations that don’t exist anymore or ones, like Ted’s Frostop, that are on the verge of not existing. Belka meditates on feelings and experiences of beauty, anguish and nostalgia, knowing some or all of these places will be sadly lost before long.

Aron Belka is a New Orleans-based artist whose work can be found in the collections of the Cill Rialaig Art Center, Ballinskelligs, Ireland, the Ogden Museum of Art, the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the Huntsville Museum of Art, the City of Winston/Salem North Carolina, the Alexandria Museum of Art, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Center and the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI. His work was most recently featured in Now You See Me – at the Alexandria Museum of Art. Originally from Salt Lake City Utah, Belka holds a B.F.A. from Utah State University.
